I’ve discovered my new favorite podcast. Strangely enough it is a kissing cousin to my other favorite podcast Complete Developer Podcast.
The three hosts, Erin, Jason & Dave, have a good rapport. I like that they are all from Tennessee (I love people from Tennessee—I married one!) and not Silicon Valley or New York. I find their (very slight) accents strangely comforting. I would say they need to work on only one thing—they talk over each other a lot. I think it’s getting better as they do more episodes.
I have really enjoyed hearing about their recently garnered junior developer jobs as well as the paths that lead to them, such FreeCodeCamp, Udacity, Udemy and Nashville Software School. I was fascinated to hear about the code reviews that are provided in the Udacity Nanodegree and how it prepares you for a real-world coding job. (I just recently applied for the Grow with Google Udacity Scholarship.)
In the most recent episode, we find out that Erin’s contract is ending and so now we will be able to follow along as she looks for a new position, the same way we did with Beej on the Complete Developer Podcast.
The show notes are sufficiently detailed so you can easily look up things they mentioned that peaked your interest. (For example: Firefox Quantum Dev Edition) and Learning How to Learn.)
I’m looking forward to hearing more about the journeys of our three rising, intrepid junior devs.

[Update July 3, 2019]
The kids at Junior Developer Toolbox have decided to stop recording the podcast as they move on to other things in their lives. The past episodes are still available and remain as valuable as ever. I thank them for the time they spent on this podcast sharing their struggles and successes.
